Visit to Lautoka

Tanya was awake at 6am for some unknown reason and wandering around taking photos but I resisted till 7.30. We went down to our continental breakfast which is included in our package and had lots of fruit only though....I will try & be good and not eat bread. We got the resort bus into Lautoka at 10am which was a very bumpy 20 minute trip through the rugged, jungley, cane field country side with a few randomly placed shacks, goats & cows along the way until we got to the primitive city (which happens to be the smallest city in the world), of Lautoka. We did a bit of window shopping, went to the ATM which was extremely busy due to fact that it is pay day in Fiji today (& I am guessing the entire city gets paid on the same day), got sucked in by the guys that carve your name into a wooden souvenir, give it to you & then hit you up for cash.....I did bargain them down a bit & we decided that it was our good deed for the day & we helped the Fijian economy by purchasing their wares. We found the markets which are just huge and were all produce so we got some apples, oranges, pineapple, custard apples & cassava cake to have for lunches. It was nearly lunch time so we bought a beautiful dish of 2 whole fish, cooked cassava & a vegetable like bok choy, in a coconut cream for a whole $3....it was just beautiful & we sat with the ladies that made it & chatted to them about all sorts of stuff. We then went looking for sun screen & aeroguard which we found & also a bottle shop to get a few drinks for our room. We had time to kill while waiting for our return lift so we had a coffee at the Chilli Tree Cafe which was nice & cool as it was so bloody hot outside. We went back to meet our lift and headed back to the resort where we headed to the bar where we had a swim, then a local beer & rum and a game of pool, laid on deck chairs & relaxed a bit till it was time to have a shower. We sampled a pre mix drink that we bought for a bargain price of about $1.50 & it was very nice, then headed to the bar for drinks and dinner. And once again dinner was delicious and the service awesome. We even snuck in a dance to Land Down Under which we requested....lol...a couple more drinks then off to bed for us as we are off on a cruise to Beachcomber Island tomorrow...can’t wait.
Night xo
