The Famous Spiegeltent.......

So yet another beautiful sleep in till after 8 again....a person could get quite used to this. Ros, Tanya & I took the puppies for a walk to the park up the street where Ros goes to hang on the monkey bars for a stretch and the weather was just so perfect.....it is so nice to finally get good weather...and in Melbourne of all places...lol. I spent the morning not doing much else but starting to get things organised and packed up ready to leave in the morning. Tanya went back to Office Works to get a cover for her tablet and then she went to the cemetery to take some photos. By then it was time for a bit of left overs for lunch and then getting ready to go to the city. Phil stayed home to do some jobs and was catching the train in to meet us later and Ros drove us in, in her car. We drove around for a while looking for a park as the Moonba Festival is on and it is very busy. I spotted a great park and we just had to reverse up a one way street to get it but all was good as there were no other cars....lol. We walked through the markets at Southgate and then down along the Yarra looking for a bar that we could actually sit down in. We finally settled on one that had live music, reasonable priced drinks, a view of the river and a great table in the sun....it was just awesome. We sat there for a couple of hours and only left cause we had tickets to a show and had to meet Phil, otherwise I think we would have settled in for the night. We walked back to the Arts Centre and Phil had already gotten in the line to go into The Spiegeltent so we then just had to wait for them to let us in. For those of you who have never heard of Spiegeltents, they are hand-sewn pavilions used as traveling dance halls, bars and entertainment salons since they were created in the early 20th century. There are only a hand-full of these unique and legendary ‘tents of mirrors’ left in the world today. Built of wood, mirrors, canvas, leaded glass and detailed in velvet and brocade, each has its own personality and style....so now you know :) We were there to see "Fat Swan" which is a send up of the movie "Black Swan" and it is a Pantomime and was absolutely hilarious...R Rated...rude, crude & undesirable......we LOVED it :) When it was over it was past dinner time so we drove to Prahran and ended up going to one of Ros & Phil's favourite restaurants which is Turkish and it was very nice indeed. We then headed home & by midnight it was well & truly time for bed. What a perfect way to end our time in Melbourne...it was an awesome day.
