Well we had to actually set an alarm this morning for 8am in case we didn't wake up......by 10am we were all packed up and ready to roll. We said our goodbyes to Ros and were very sad to go...it has been such a great stay but the show must go on....lol. We had decided to follow Phil as he was driving to Geelong and that is where we had to go through so it worked out perfect....although we did go through the tunnel which is a toll and you can't just pay for one toll here, you have to buy an all day pass so it cost $14 to go through one bloody toll....tourists beware of this trap when visiting Melbourne :( We stopped in Geelong for half an hour at the beach and then headed for Lorne. We stopped at Bells Beach in Torquay really just to say we went there and to take a photo or two and then began the windy Great Ocean Road. It really is a beautiful drive and we have only just begun. We arrived in Lorne at about 1.30pm and found out where the dog friendly caravan park was and checked in. We picked a great site right on the river bank where there are lots of birds to look at. The weather is just beautiful so a walk needed to be had. The main street is very close to our camp site and the shops along there are great, but as it was late some of them were closed so we will visit them tomorrow. We did however find an interesting shop that was open, it offered port tastings so I couldn't resist. The lady in there even let the pooches in, great customer service. We tasted the many ports and muscats they had on offer and settled with a bottle of the white port and a bottle of traditional muscat. We will return there tomorrow to taste the table wines. I am now also convinced that I need a barrel as the difference in the taste of the port from the barrel was huge. They sell those in there too so Alvo got a list of their products and I may just need to order one when we settle somewhere. We walked back to the camp site via the beach path which was beautiful and although the weather is warm I shivered thinking about the swimmers in the ocean....mad I tell you. Alvo headed over to what she later described as the most expensive Foodworks she has ever been to, as I am cooking curry tonight. I took the puppies back to the tent and before I knew it Alvo was back so I went for a shower and then started dinner. It was a fairly plain curry but nice all the same and we ate it out of the saucepan as I mixed the rice in with it. Now it is time for a cuppa and bed because unless you have a fire, night time at the campsite can get a little cool.
